The Agartala Press Club, a cornerstone of the city’s media community, celebrated its 40th foundation day on Tuesday with a grand procession and a festive gathering.

 

Agartala-Press-Club-40th-Foundation-DayThe event marked the commencement of a year-long celebration, bringing together media professionals of different generations, from seasoned veterans to budding ones, creating an atmosphere of joy and amity.

 

The rally was inaugurated by nonagenarian journalist Shrotaranjan Khisha, in presence of the club’s founder secretary, Satyabrata Chakraborty, and founder member, Subal Kumar Dey. The event also saw the participation of veteran journalists Samiran Roy, Phulan Bhattacharjee, Sanjib Deb, Sekhar Dutta, Arun Nath, Pradip Dutta Bhowmik, and Samir Paul.

Jayanta Bhattacharyya, the president of the Agartala Press Club, along with other members of the managing committee, journalists, photojournalists, newspaper hawkers, and other media professionals, joined the rally, embodying the spirit of unity and shared purpose. All participants were warmly welcomed on behalf of the Agartala Press Club.

Before the rally commenced, each participant was presented with an ‘Uttariyo’ imprinted with the Agartala Press Club logo.

The rally began at 11:30 am from the club premises and traversed through the city, passing landmarks such as the Ujjayanta Palace, Kaman Chowmuhani, Post Office Chowmuhani, RMS Chowmuhani, and Orient Chowmuhani, before concluding at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.

The procession was enlivened by the melodious strains of Baul songs and patriotic tunes, adding a vibrant musical backdrop to the event. Following the rally, all participants gathered for a lunch at the club premises, fostering a sense of shared celebration.
