The All India Krishak Sabha (AIKS) alleged post-poll violence Tripura is continuing, and the organization is planning to report it to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Addressing a press conference in Agartala on Wednesday (April 26), AIKS General Secretary Vijoo Krishnan shared the decisions taken at a state committee meeting held the day before. He claimed that several incidents of post-poll violence were reported from various parts of the state, causing hurdles in the means of livelihood of the common man, including attacks on rubber plantations, agricultural fields, water bodies, and other forms of property. The violence is affecting the farming communities and the common citizens of Tripura, Krishnan alleged.
Vijoo Krishnan stated that a 15-point charter of demands had been approved by the state committee members of the AIKS during the meeting.
The demands include compensations for farmers incurring losses due to damage to agricultural crops and farming by miscreants, preventing the illegal occupation of agricultural lands and fish farming ponds, arranging adequate amounts of fertilizers and pesticides at subsidized rates for farmers, resuming paddy farming under SRI method, ensuring 100-day mandays in MGNREGA and TUEP, and introducing schemes in agriculture-related works and others.
Additionally, Krishnan demanded that the government pass the 125th amendment bill of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in the parliament and include the Kok-Borok language in the 8th schedule of the constitution.
Krishnan said that between May 10 and 20, the situation in Tripura will be exposed across the country as the organization will launch a campaign across the country before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections highlighting the post poll violence. The state committee meeting was also attended by Pabitra Kar, Secretary of All India Krishak Sabha State Committee and others.
