A compelling photography exhibition, themed “Akal Bodhan” or “Untimely Awakening of Maa Durga,” was inaugurated in Agartala on Monday by Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha.
The event, organized by the Tripura Photo Journalists Association, is a part of the global celebration of World Photography Day.
Held at the prestigious Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, the exhibition showcases the powerful work of the state’s photojournalists. A total of 76 thought-provoking images delve into the core theme, offering viewers a unique perspective on a subject deeply rooted in the cultural and religious fabric of the region.
The Chief Minister commended the photographers for their exceptional work and said the exhibition is a strong demonstration of the talent and creativity of Tripura’s photojournalism community.
He paid homage to late photographers Debashish Baruah and Sushant Das, whose contributions to the field have left an enduring legacy.
Beyond admiring the photographs, the Chief Minister also took a keen interest in the collection of vintage cameras displayed at the exhibition. He even captured a moment himself, adding a personal touch to the event.
The inauguration was attended by the presence of several dignitaries including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, Techno India University Tripura Vice Chancellor Dr. Ratan Kumar Saha, Agartala Press Club president Jayanta Bhattacharya, secretary Ramakanta Dey, and Tripura Photo Journalists Association president Praloyjit Pal.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until August 21, from 11 AM to 9 PM daily. Organizers encourage art enthusiasts and photography lovers to visit the exhibition and experience the visual storytelling firsthand.
