Alertness of Dharmanagar Traffic Department helped in nabbing two Bangladeshi women who entered into Tripura ‘illegally’.
On Monday, Traffic Police Inspector Pankaj Debnath was roaming around in Dharmanagar town as part of his routine works. He noticed three women were walking near the ISBT.
Pankaj Debnath turned around his bike and inquired their whereabouts. However, their statements appeared to be inconsistent.
Eventually, during the conversation people gathered there and the trio confessed two of them are from Bangladesh while the eldest among the three is a resident of Tripura.
The Superintendent of Police of the North District was immediately informed about the whole incident. Later, the trio was handed over to the police.
The three women were taken to Dharmanagar Women’s Police Station and interrogated.
It is learnt, the name of the eldest woman who was answering Traffic Inspector Pankaj Debnath, is Nargis Akhter. She, wife of Dulal Mia hails from Bagma in Udaipur under Gomati District.
The other two, Sajida Khatun (25) and Kajali Akhter (24) are the residents of Demra village under Rupganj police station in Bangladesh.
According to sources, Sajida and Kajali entered Tripura through the Belonia Border on Saturday.
The trio was supposed to go Guwahati from Agartala. But they missed the train.
To go to Guwahati by a night super bus from the ISBT in Dharmanagar, they came to Dharmanagar in a morning train from Agartala.
Police are interrogating the women.
