A day after the destruction of various narcotic items worth Rs 9.5 crore, Tripura Police scripted a major success in arresting the 29 drug peddlers and their customers in a day from the Udaipur sub-division as well as recovered Heroin, Yaba and ganja in large quantities. Police also recovered narcotic substances from Damchhera in North district and Ambassa under Dhalai district and arrested total 4 persons including a woman.
Tripura Police arrested 29 persons, so far, at Udaipur under the Gomati district on Tuesday for supplying or consuming drugs and recovered Heroin and Yaba tablets. The market value of the seized narcotic substance is yet to be ascertained. The raids in Udaipur and adjoining areas are still underway and many more are likely to be arrested.
Based on secret information, RK Police arrested one Tahar Mia from Town Sonamura in Udaipur today. Police recovered a
huge quantity of heroin and yaba Tablets from his residence.
Taking clues from his mobile phone, Police in cooperation with local people and media persons arrested another 28 persons involved in drug menace from different places in Udaipur till the last available report.
Meantime, a Police team led by Damcherra PS OC Raju Bhowmik under the North Tripura district detained two persons along with yaba tablets on Tuesday morning based on information from its secret sources.
The arrested two youths were identified as Kranti Reang (28), resident of Bahadur para Khetachara police station and Kovid Ahmed (24) resident of Bedajama under Patharkandi PS in Karimganj District of Assam. Around 600 yaba tablets were recovered from their possession.
In yet another incident reported from Ambassa under the Dhalai district, police intercepted a four-wheeler bearing number TR 01 BF 0275 from Agartala at the Ambassa Betbagan Naka checking point.
During a search operation, Police recovered 103 kg of dry cannabis kept in 89 packets from a secret compartment inside the car.
Ambassa Police Officer Govinda Das said that they seized the car based on a tip-off and the recovered amount of cannabis has a market value of approximately Rs 10 lakh.
Police also arrested the driver and a person in the car namely; Samriddha Debbarma and Boyar Debbarma.
