The Opposition party in Tripura, CPM has raised questions on role of the State police in the wake of attacks on CPM party offices allegedly unleashed by the BJP supporters on Thursday after the announcement of results of Assembly Polls in five States.
Addressing a press conference on Friday evening, the CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Choudhury said that the party would write to Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who also holds the home portfolio detailing the mayhem created by the miscreants.
“We drafted a letter addressing the Chief Minister to apprise him of at least 39 incidents that took place on Friday last across the state, where the CPM party offices were attacked, ransacked and burnt,” Choudhury said adding that the CPM party in its letter to the Chief Minister would seek proper investigation into the incidents and to initiate legal action against the culprits involved with the incidents.
He alleged, “Soon after the declaration of the poll result for 5 states, the saffron brigades in our state had unleashed attacks on our party offices and party workers in the name of victory celebration.”
“At AD Nagar under Dukli block, our party office was first ransacked and damaged and later the saffron brigade hoisted the BJP party flag on the roof of our party office,” Choudhury alleged.
Choudhury slammed the ruling BJP party and reiterated his allegation that the state under the rule of BJP government is reeling under deteriorated law and order situation.
“We would write to the Chief Minister and seek his intervention into the matter where the oppositions are being attacked. We would demand for the restoration of the law-and-order situation in Tripura,” he said.
