The Northeastern Region has so much hidden energy that once the ‘Asthalaxmi’ is awakened, it will play the role of engine of growth for the entire nation, said Minister of Ports, Shipping, Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal while speaking on the ‘Atmanirbhar Arthavyavastha at a Nagarik Sabha in Agartala on Tuesday.
“No one but Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed so much honour to the North East Region (NER). He has changed the narrative and identified the NER as Asthalaxmi. The region has immense energy. The sources of the energy are its natural resources, traditional social values and system. We have to realize the power of Asthalaxmi. Once it is awakened, it will be driving force for the development of the entire nation – engine of growth “, Sonowal said.
To awaken the energy, he referred to the PM Gati Shakti and appealed to people to work harder to utilize the budget proposals. “Proposals have been made to connect all the sectors. If you study the Budget, you will find it focused promoting the sectors so that people have a dignified living”, he said.
In this connection, Sarbananda Sonowal and said, the proposal will get the much needed momentum in the overall development initiatives through enhanced connectivity.
Discussing the Budget Proposals, the Union Minister said, Apart from other proposals, it has come up with a National Master Plan for the next 25 years in which every stakeholder – the women, youth, and the farmers – of the country will be taken into confidence.
“The Prime Minister is emphasizing connecting the country through water-ways and ports. This will not only give a boost to trading activities, but improve the Sadbhavna”, he commented.
“The Union Budget emphasized on Capital expenditure which will boost the infrastructural development across the country. This will enhance the multi-modal connectivity which will accrue benefits to all sections of a society”, the Union Minister said.
The Union Minister pointed out to the progress achieved during the tenure of Biplab Deb-led government and said, entire country is witnessing the growth of Tripura – a part of Asthalaxmi. Growth of Tripura will also translate into development of the NER and the ‘engine of growth’ will lead the country towards prosperity, he asserted.
