The ruling party BJP delivered a major blow to its ally IPFT as a good number of supporters and leaders of IPFT and its Youth wing joined the saffron camp.
The regional Party, IPFT is already in disarray and even some of its top leaders are reportedly quit the party – the leadership crisis and resentment among the supporters against the leaders are few reasons that have caused the existential crisis for the party.
A total of 437 voters from 140 families joined the saffron camp at party’s state headquarters in Agartala on Wednesday. The joining has left the IPFT youth wing of Khumulwng division tottering. This has opened scope for further split and joining the saffron brigade. A total of 44 members of IPFT Youth wing including two vice-presidents Binod Debbarma and Saman Debbarma joined the BJP.
In the run up to the Assembly Polls in Tripura, the spilt in IPFT, especially in its Youth Wing, in favour of the BJP is crucial in the sense that a substantial part of the educated youth has joined BJP today raising slogans in favour of development.
The new voters promised to work for the party as per the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Viswas’ mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While BJP is highlighting development as the main issue and for past few months, BJP led by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched an intensive campaign and interaction with the beneficiaries of indigenous communities of different government schemes. The interaction is probing to a game changer for BJP, Political analysts opined.
Meantime, the new entrants were welcomed into saffron brigade by the BJP state leaders including its State president cum Rajya Sabha MP, Dr Manik Saha, vice-president Rajib Bhattacharjee, two general secretaries Tinku Roy and Papia Dutta and Minister of ICA Department Sushanta Chowdhury.
The BJP state president said, as per the list provided to him, there were total 437 voters from 140 families but many of them could not attend the joining programme due to bad weather.
