Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday called for an equal participation of women in various activities for a prosperous Tripura.

“Overall development of the state is impossible without equal participation of the women. To this end, government’s goal for women empowerment has been reflected in the budget,” Deb said.

He was addressing a thanks giving rally organized by Mahila Morcha unit of 14-Badgarghat mandal at Badharghat Higher Secondary School ground. The rally was organized to thank the state government for 33 percent women reservation and the people-oriented budget.

Deb said, there are around 50 percent women in the state and the state government is implementing a bunch of plans for their empowerment.

He also launched a scathing attack on the communists saying that they don’t understand anything except holding protests.

“The communists thought that Biplab Deb wouldn’t be able to arrange money for increasing the social allowance. But, allocation of fund has already been kept there in the latest Budget for increasing the social allowance to Rs. 2000. It has been possible since Modi ji is with us,” Deb said in the rally.

At the end of the rally, Deb interacted with the women at the ground.

Later, he wrote on Facebook, “#NariShakti Jindabad! Glad to receive the blessings of Matri Shakti on the Navami of Chaitra Navaratri. Our government, under the guidance of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, is working relentlessly for women’s empowerment and will continue to take steps for their welfare.”

Badharghat MLA Mimi Majumder thanked the Chief Minister and the state government for 33 percent reservation and people-oriented budget.

BJP state general secretaries Tinku Roy and Papia Dutta along with other local party leaders were present.

At the beginning, the Chief Minister along with the local MLA and others paid tributes to those anti-Left workers who lost their lives due to political violence unleashed by the Leftists before 2018. (Courtesy: Tripura Times)
