The ruling BJP in Tripura received boosts in the Boxanagar Assembly constituency which will go to by-polls soon and in the indigenous-majority Krishnapur Assembly constituency in Teliamura on Friday.
The Boxanagar Constituency fell vacant after CPIM MLA Samsul Haque died recently. As the people are gearing up for a by-poll soon, BJP triggered a massive slide in the Opposition, especially in the CPIM camp.
Over 4100 voters in minority-dominated Boxanagar today formally joined the ruling BJP in the presence of the party’s State president Rajib Bhattacharjee and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
The CPM MLA of Boxonagar Samsul Haque recently passed away and hence this seat will go to by-polls soon. While the Leftists will try their best to secure this seat like 2023 polls, the BJP will also leave no stone unturned to bloom Lotus and make it communist-free.
The Chief Minister along with BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee welcomed the newcomers to BJP followed by the rally. Thousands of people gathered at the rally and welcomed the Chief Minister.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said, the people’s support for Bharatiya Janata Party and faith in Narendra Modi-led government are echoing at every corner of Tripura and the massive joining programme at Boxanagar reflected the same.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party and the government have been working tirelessly to strengthen the country. The development initiatives of the Prime Minister have been instrumental in attracting people to join the BJP,” he said.
Dr. Saha also criticized other political parties for their attempts to create divisions among the minority people and exploit them as a vote bank for their political gains.
At another organizational programme organized by Dhanpur Mandal, Dr. Saha said, the Karyakartas work for the people with the mentality of Seva right from the booth level and that’s why the people are keeping their faith in Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister encouraged the karyakartas, especially the Prishta Pramukhs, to go to the people and highlight the development works done by the Modi-led government with the vision of ‘Sampark Se Samarthan’. BJP state general secretary and other party leaders were present in the programme.
In a separate joining programme at Krishnapur Assembly constituency, BJP gained the support of 102 voters. The joining is important in the sense that most of these voters were reported to be TIPRA Motha supporters – the main opposition party in Tripura. Minister Bikas Debbarma welcomed the newcomers in the saffron brigade.
