BJP state president Dr. Manik Saha, who recently became a member of Rajya Sabha from Tripura, said the party opposes the demand for Tipraland and Greater Tipraland. He also said the party is ready to contest by-elections in four seats.
Returning to Agartala on Sunday after being sworn in as a Rajya Sabha MP, Dr Manik Saha addressed a press meet in Agartala and cleared the Bharatiya Janata Party’s stand on Tipraland and Greater Tipraland demand. Opposing the demand, the BJP is working for the betterment of indigenous people.
In this connection, he said a proposal to increase the number of seats in TTAADC to 50 has already been sent to Delhi and a Bill has been passed by the Parliament recently for inclusion of Darlong community as a sub-tribe of Kuki in the list of Schedule Tribes in Tripura.
He informed the media about activities for 10 consecutive days starting from April 11 to April 20 next.
State-wide social justice activities will continue from April 11. Beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat will be thanked on the same day. The activists will go to the hospital health centers and distribute the fruits. Swaccha Bharat campaign will be conducted.
The leadership of all levels will take part in the 10-day long activities. The activists will go to the Dalit-dominated schools and distribute the materials and fruits to the students.
Beneficiaries will enter the housing scheme on April 12. Those who have got water connection in the Jal Jeevan mission will conduct pipe pujan (worshipping water pipe) in their homes. On April 13, there will be a thanksgiving gathering with the beneficiaries of different welfare schemes.
On April 14, Dr. BR Ambedkar’s birthday will be celebrated in all booths. Meritorious students will be welcomed. A conference on unorganized workers will be held on April 16 next. A discussion meeting on Jan Dhan Yojana will be held on April 17 next.
On 18th April, a clean India campaign will be launched to welcome the cleaning workers under Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan. A nutrition campaign on April 19 next. Freedom fighters will be honored as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on April 20 next.
