Bru Heritage Preservation in Focus at Twisarangchak YBA Foundation Day
Ampi (Tripura), Dec 15: The first Foundation Day of the Twisarangchak Regional Committee of the Young Bru Association of India (YBA) was observed at Ekjan Chara Village Committee under Ampi Nagar Block in Tripura’s Gomati district. During the observance, participating leaders and community members emphasized welfare-driven development and the protection of Bru cultural identity.
The programme, held on December 14, 2025 witnessed participation from Bru community members across Tripura, reflecting growing grassroots mobilization around social, educational and economic upliftment. The event served not only as a celebration but also as a platform to reaffirm the association’s long-term commitment to community empowerment.
Tripura’s TRP & PTG Minister Sukla Charan Noatia inaugurated the programme in the presence of elected representatives and community leaders. Addressing the gathering, the Minister reiterated the state government’s dedication to the holistic development of the Bru (Reang) community, assuring continued support through welfare schemes and departmental initiatives.
He urged community members to ensure proper documentation, stressing that access to government benefits depends on valid and updated official records. The Minister said strengthening awareness at the grassroots level was essential for inclusive development.
According to organisers, while the Young Bru Association of India was originally established in 1992, the Twisarangchak Regional Committee came into existence on December 13, 2024. The Foundation Day celebration marked the completion of its first year of organisational activities.
Leaders of the association said the YBA’s core mission is to strengthen social infrastructure, promote education, improve economic opportunities and safeguard the unique cultural heritage of the Bru community. Special emphasis was laid on preserving traditional customs, language, religious practices, attire and cultural expressions inherited from previous generations.
The programme featured a series of Bru cultural performances, symbolising the community’s efforts to pass on its heritage to younger generations while adapting to modern challenges.

Several prominent dignitaries attended the event, including Ampi MLA Pathan Lal Jamatia, Ampi Block BAC Chairman Sindhu Chandra Jamatia, Ampi 23 Constituency MDC Sadagar Kalai, CEC president John Molsoi and Twisarangchak YBA Regional Committee President Kathak Reang.
Community leaders said the successful observance of the Foundation Day reflects increasing organisational strength within the Bru community and underlines the role of youth-led initiatives in driving inclusive growth and cultural preservation in Tripura.
