BTVM holds annual sports meet 2025 amidst enthusiasm,
Rising Woman Athlete Laxmi Rani Tripura felicitated
Agartala, Dec 29: Bhavan’s Tripura Vidya Mandir (BTVM) continues to place strong emphasis on the holistic development of students by nurturing physical fitness and mental well-being alongside academic excellence. Reflecting this commitment, the school organised its 22nd Annual Sports Meet on Monday at its Narsingarh campus, Principal Swapna Shome informed the media today.
The event was formally inaugurated by Chief Guest Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the National Law University, along with N. C. Sharma, Director of the Department of Secondary Education, through the ceremonial lighting and installation of the sacred torch. The Sports Meet was officially declared open with the release of pigeons by distinguished guests, including Saraju Chakraborty, Sanjib Deb, Padma Shri awardee Dipa Karmakar, and other dignitaries.
Welcoming the gathering, Principal Swapna Shome highlighted the school’s academic progress, co-curricular initiatives, and notable achievements of BTVM students over the year. On the occasion, Tripura’s emerging sportsperson Laxmi Rani Tripura was felicitated in recognition of her achievements and potential.
In a separate gesture of appreciation, Ashish Pal, Secretary of the Masters Athletics Association, Tripura, honoured the Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and the school Principal for their contributions to sports and education. The school magazine Prajna was also unveiled by Dr. Sumanta Chakrabarti and Suchitra Sarkar.

Another significant highlight of the programme was the inauguration of the 700-seat Kashinath Das Memorial Arcade by Ranu Chakraborty and Swapan Bhowmik, marking an important addition to the school’s infrastructure.
The 22nd Annual Sports meet 2025 of BTVM also underscored the institution’s commitment to social responsibility, with ten bicycles being distributed to Class VI girl students. These were generously sponsored by Bhavan’s staff and well-wishers to encourage mobility, independence, and skill development.
Adding colour and vibrancy to the Sports Meet were food production stalls, displays of Jaadu E-Neer, and Batik craft products. Students captivated the audience with well-coordinated yoga demonstrations, a disciplined march-past, and a mass dance performance involving over 500 students, all of which received widespread appreciation.

The school grounds resonated with excitement and enthusiasm as students and parents cheered throughout the day. Winners of various sporting events were honoured with medals and certificates by the distinguished guests.
The programme was presided over by Debashis Chakraborty, retired IFS officer and Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Agartala Kendra. With the active participation of teachers, parents, and students, the 22nd Annual Sports Meet concluded on a grand and memorable note.
