With political mercury is soaring high, weather god too joins to play its role. People of Agartala woke up to a hot, humid and sunny morning on Thursday. As usual candidates of the political parties for by polls in 6-Agartala and 8-Bordowali seats along with supporters also hit the campaign trails.
Chief Minister of Tripura and also the BJP candidate from 8-Bordowali seat, Dr Manik Saha held his Jana Sampark Abhiyan at Shiv Bari Road area while Dr Ashok Sinha, the BJP candidate for 6-Agartala seat conducted his door-to-door campaign at Abhounagar area.
Congress nominated candidate for 8-Bordowali seat, Asish Saha too hit the campaign trails and met the voters of Surya Chowmuhani area today.
Besides, Trinamool Congress candidate from 6-Agartala seat Panna Deb along with her supporters went to door-to-door campaign at GB Bazar area.
Meantime, supporters of Leftists, BJP, Congress and Trinamool are active in the field and keeping touch with people of respective constituencies.
As the candidates, leaders and supporters were literally toiling hard under the scorching Sun, thick clouds gradually overcast the city sky. Soon, sweltering heat started to fade out as downpour started. Hectic movements of staff of Agartala Municipal Corporation and pump operators took centre stage in a bid to ensure that city dwellers do not suffer owing to water logging. Monotonous mechanical sound of water pumps replaced the slogans and buzz of political activists.
Meantime, IMD weather bulletin said the sky in the state will remain overcast throughout the day and intermittent rains with thunders are expected at some places. Total 31.9 mm rains were recorded during the last 24 hours.
Parties refused to budge under inclement weather and started hectic indoor meetings to fine tune the poll strategies and plan for the next round of actions while incessant rains are lashing over the city.
