Preparations are in full swing for the by-elections in four Assembly Constituencies for both the Election Commission and Political parties. As part of the poll procedure, EVM commissioning started for in 6-Agartala and 8-Town Bordowali Assembly constituencies at Uma Kanta Academy on Wednesday in presence of representatives of different political parties. EVM commissioning will also continue on Thursday. Apart from the representatives of various political parties, the Returning Officers of the two Constituencies, the General Observer appointed by the National Election Commission and others were also present on the occasion.

Returning Officer Asim Saha said EVM commissioning is being done in 20 tables for the two Assembly constituencies. Saha said there are 55 polling stations in 6-Agartala seat and 56 polling stations in the 8-Town Bordowali Assembly constituency.

 

Meanwhile, the Election Commission appointed 149 micro-observers to conduct the by-elections in 6-Agartala and 8-Town Baradowali Assembly constituencies. A one-day training camp for micro observers was held at Muktadhara Hall in Agartala on Tuesday.

At the training camp, West Tripura District Magistrate Debpriya Vardhan said that micro-observers would keep a close watch on the secrecy of the voting process, whether anyone was obstructing the voting process or disrupting the voting process at the polling booths.

According to a Police press release issued on Tuesday, adequate security personnel have been deployed in all four assembly constituencies in the state to ensure a peaceful by-election. So far, 25 companies of security forces have been deployed in four centers – Out of these 25 companies, 5 companies are TSR. In addition, five companies of TSR forces have been deployed for static point duty and other duties including law and order.
