District Transport Offices in all the eight districts in Tripura introduced cashless transaction facilities on Tuesday. Transport Minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury revealed after formally inaugurating the facilities at Secretariat in Agartala today.

Addressing the media, Chowdhury said, Mobile banking services have witnessed a significant surge in popularity since their inception in Tripura and throughout the country.

“These services, powered by cutting-edge technology, have brought various banking functions to the fingertips of consumers, allowing for instant money transfers and a host of new features, including bill payments and loan facilities”, the Minister said.

Consequently, the public’s interest in mobile financial services is on the rise, paralleled by an increasing reliance on these digital solutions. Notably, the volume of transactions with customers has been steadily on the rise.

With the objective of modernizing and simplifying financial transactions, District Transport Offices across 8 districts, including the state capital Agartala, have taken a significant step towards promoting cashless transactions, he asserted.

Inaugurating the facilities, Chowdhury said, digital technology was embraced as a secure and transparent alternative to cash payments.

Detailing further, Chowdhury said, The capital city of Agartala and other district transport offices will implement modern technology solutions such as Quick Response (QR) codes, debit cards, and UPI (Unified Payments Interface) to enable cashless transactions. This transition promises fearless transparency in all kinds of financial dealings, making transactions more affordable, convenient, and transparent for individuals of all walks of life.

The move towards cashless transactions in these public offices marks a pivotal shift in the state’s approach to financial services, emphasizing the advantages of digital technology and the modernization of payment methods. This development is expected to streamline and enhance various administrative and financial processes, benefiting citizens and the state as a whole.

In an era where digital transformation is reshaping the way people manage their finances, the introduction of cashless transactions in district transport offices will enhance the convenience and security for the common people. This significant step aligns with the broader national trend towards a cashless economy, he noted.
