The Prime Minister’s Garib Kalyan Yojana is the most popular scheme implemented in Tripura. Besides, welfare measures taken by the State Government like increasing social pension, 33 per cent reservation for women candidates in Government jobs,in particular, 10 per cent reservation for women are largely appreciated, said All India BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan in Agartala on Sunday (Dec 11).
Vanathi Srinivasan, who arrived in Agartala today on a two-day State visit, inaugurated ‘Chai pe Charcha’ – an interactive outreach programme of the State Mahila Morcha in the city today. She also attended a public meeting at Khayerpur near Agartala today.
Later addressing the media, the National president of the Morcha said, the ‘Chai pe Charcha’ programme aims at interaction between the Morcha leaders and women beneficiaries relating to implementation of the government schemes. The programme will be held across the State.
She said, knowing about the experience of the beneficiaries, understanding their needs and transformation of their lives etc are necessary for better formulation and implementation of government schemes.
The Mahila Morcha national president said Chai pe charcha is a programme in which Mahila Morcha leaders will interact with the beneficiaries and collect feedback relating to the performance of the government and their expectations as well as basic needs.
Her today’s interaction with the women beneficiaries also focused on 33 per cent reservation on government jobs and 10 per cent in Police, distribution of bi-cycles among 5000 girl students, 33 per cent reservation for women in Government jobs, in particular, 10 per cent in the Police department etc.
“Bicycle distribution is not just distributing something to the beneficiaries – rather, it is, or any other vehicles, give wings to women as they can move to their destination without help of others”, she said.
Referring to the Central government’s Poshan Abhiyan and such other schemes, Vanathi Srinivasan said the issues like mal-nutrition, anemia etc have been considerably reduced owing to the initiatives taken by the Modi-led Government.
She mentioned about Prime Minister’s initiatives and implementation of several schemes which resulted in improving the sex ratio in the country.
Vanathi Srinivasan hailed the improved security and safety of women under the incumbent BJP government and slammed the previous Left Front Government on this issue. She mentioned about several incidences of atrocities on women during the Left era in Tripura.
