Agartala Dec 25: The spirit of devotion, vibrant worship, and community togetherness defined Christmas celebrations across Tripura, as churches and public spaces came alive with prayers, hymns, and colourful festivities.

Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Christmas.

Large gatherings of devotees attended midnight services at prominent churches, including the Don Bosco Church at Nandannagar in Agartala.

During the services, worshippers offered special prayers seeking peace, harmony, and well-being, particularly for the people of Tripura, other Northeastern States and the wider world.

The Mariamnagar Catholic Church near Agartala emerged as one of the main centres of celebration. The iconic church was beautifully illuminated with decorative lights and glowing Christmas stars, attracting large numbers of faithful for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day prayers.

Adding to the festive mood, a traditional fair featuring food stalls and local vendors was organised in the area, drawing pilgrims and visitors alike and highlighting Tripura’s rich blend of religious tradition and cultural vibrancy.

Reflecting the state’s ethos of unity and peace in diversity, people from various communities, including non-Christian residents, actively took part in the celebrations at major churches.

The Assam Rifles also marked Christmas alongside local communities at several locations, including Agartala and Radhanagar in Tripura and in other places in Assam and Manipur.

Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, in his message noted that while Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, it also reflects a deeper spiritual message that encourages humanity to embrace peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.

The Governor urged citizens to take inspiration from the teachings associated with Christmas and work towards fostering harmony and peaceful coexistence to build a better future for mankind.

Chief Minister Dr Saha conveyed his heartfelt wishes to citizens, expressing hope that the festive season would bring joy, peace, and optimism into everyone’s lives.

He said Christmas is a time to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and inspire compassion, especially towards those in need.

Both dignitaries expressed hope that Christmas would spread joy, love, peace, prosperity, brotherhood, and friendship across the state, reinforcing values that unite people beyond social and cultural boundaries.
