Stage is ready for the first Dental College of Tripura to formally start its functioning on Friday.
Earlier during an inspection visit, Chief Minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha said, the highly anticipated academic activities in the Agartala Government Dental College are scheduled to commence on September 1, 2023 and the classes of the College located within the premises of the IGM Hospital in Agartala is ready to start the classes.
The Nodal Officer in charge of the Agartala Government Dental College, Dr Rajesh Anil Acharjee while speaking to the media on Thursday also confirmed the commencement of the classes from tomorrow.
Sources said the newly appointed principal of the college Professor Dr Salu Rai arrived in the State today.
According to Dr Acharjee, after the second round of counseling, the classes will start with 34 students. The number of students is expected to increase after the third round of counseling which will be held in the month of September.
Meantime, DMF HP Sharma said 50 students have been selected for the first year in this college, so far.
Out of the total 50 students, 42 are from Tripura while the remaining eight students are from different other State. These eight students were selected through the All India Selection Test. He also informed the media that none of the eight students have reported so far.
“The Agartala Government Dental College’s inauguration by the Prime Minister surpassed all expectations and has set the stage for an eagerly awaited chapter in Tripura’s education landscape”, Dr Saha said during his recent inspection visit.
The formal commencement of the Dental College will mark a significant milestone in dental education in the region.
