The present state government has been working on a priority basis from the beginning to empower women.

He said, as the women will become financially strong, Tripura will move ahead as well as there will be a possibility that family abuse will also lessen. It will be possible to eradicate financial discrimination also in society.

The present state government is working to empower women by taking various plans. As a result of successful implementation of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, it was possible to stop female child infanticide cases to some extent.

According to recent data, the population gap between men and women has narrowed. As the state government encouraged the institutional childbirth system, it has been observed that 98% of women are heading to hospitals for childbirth. As a result of which, the death cases of children and mother has also decreased.

It is becoming possible to treat complicated diseases in the state itself, which as a result has treatment facility in the state has regained the public’s faith back. The formation of Self-Help Groups by the state government is encouraging women to increase income opportunities. There are about 36-38 thousand SHGs in the state presently with about 3 lakh women members. He said, after the present government took over, the most significant step was linking the rationing system with the online system, as a result of which original consumers only are getting ration items.
