In yet another attempt to build industries in the State, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday invited investment for Tripura’s IT sector.

He was addressing the inaugural session of a two-day Digital Bangladesh IT Summit- 2022 at Hotel Polo Towers in Agartala where a number of investors from Bangladesh, Delhi, Kolkata and other parts of the country participated.

Bangladesh Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Tripura Minister Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury, Jail Minister Ramprasad Paul and other delegates were present.

Addressing the summit, Deb said, an IT-friendly environment is there in Tripura and some small companies are already working in the state’s IT sector.

Highlighting the major developments in the state’s connectivity sector and ongoing projects for linking Tripura with Bangladesh by air, rail and waterways, Deb drew attention of the investors present at the summit for investment in the state.

“With expansion of the digital system, the administration has become speedy and transparent in the state since 2018,” Deb pointed out.

In his address, the Bangladesh minister recalled India’s contributions to Bangladesh’s fight against Corona pandemic and thanked the Government of India.

He said, “the Bangladesh government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working towards building digital Bangladesh. With the assistance from the Government of India, IT Parks will be set up in twelve places in Bangladesh.”

According to Palak, around 13 crore people of Bangladesh are using the internet at present. He also spoke on the major initiatives taken by the Bangladesh government to ensure digital growth in the country.

Minister for ICA Sushanta Chowdhury and Cooperative Minister Ramprasad Paul also addressed the inaugural session.

Principal Secretary of Information and technology Punit Agarwal, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Bikarna Kumar Ghosh and Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner to Agartala Arif Mohammad were also present. (Courtesy: Tripura Times)
