Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday said the BJP government works for the welfare of 37 lakh people, not for the party.

Hitting out at the Left government, Deb said, “There was no development in the state as the previous government worked for the party. But our government is working for the 37 lakhs people and as a result, water connections are now reaching every household even in the interior places.”

Deb was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 20th state-level Buisu festival in Dhumacherra of Dhalai district. Buisu is the festival of the Tripuri community that marks the beginning of a new year.

He said, many political parties would talk big but Modi-line can only ensure development in the North East region including Tripura.

He said, the true development in the North East started after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister. Hitting out at the previous Congress-led government in Centre, Deb said, earlier the North East was kept backward. Even, the previous governments used to identify the NE states category wise.

“If any Prime Minister of the country worked for the progress of the North East, he is none other than Narendra Modi,” Deb said, adding that few political parties would deliver fake promises but when it comes to development, it is not possible without Modi.

Deb also commented, “the people of Tripura created a history in 2018 polls; they had another option but the people of the state kept faith in Modi, following which the state saw a holistic growth over the past few years.”

In Tripura, the Janajati development started after the formation of the BJP government in 2018, he said, adding that for the first time in the state’s history, the Asian Development Bank sanctioned Rs. 1300 crore exclusively for Janajati development.

The state government is now working for development in every sector including Healthcare, Drinking Water, Education and Road Connectivity in the Janajati areas, he said.

Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs Bishweswar Tudu, who also attended the function said, drinking water facility is being provided to every household under Jal Jeevan Mission. Besides, the central government is giving priority for the education of Janajati students and several Ekalavya Model residential Schools are being set up.

MP Rebati Tripura, MLA D.C. Hrankhwal, MLA Dhananjoy Tripura, MDC Hangshakumar Tripura, MDC Sanjoy Das, Samajpati of Tripuri community and others were present in the inaugural ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister then went to Rabindranagar of Kanchanpur where he along with Minister Santana Chakma and MLA Prem Kumar Reang took part in the 3rd state-level ‘Biu Parab’ celebration, a festival celebrated by the Barua community. (Courtesy: Tripura Times)
