CM Outlines Futuristic PSU Development Roadmap
Agartala, Dec 17: In a futuristic push for sustainable industrial growth, Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr) Manik Saha has outlined plans to make every Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in the state financially self-reliant, while emphasising the development of rubber-based industries and new manufacturing units.
Speaking at a review meeting of the Tripura Forest Development and Plantation Corporation (TFDPC) at the Secretariat conference hall, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of innovation in product manufacturing and marketing. “PSUs must adopt forward-looking strategies to produce goods in line with market demand. This is essential for financial independence,” he said.
Highlighting the potential of local resources, CM Saha urged greater utilisation of raw materials available within the state to manufacture diverse products. He added that profit-making PSUs would not only contribute to the economy but also generate fresh employment opportunities. “High-quality products from Tripura can create demand beyond the state,” he noted.
The Chief Minister also underscored plans to establish a tyre manufacturing plant in the state as part of a larger vision to expand rubber cultivation, enhance rubber production, and develop rubber-based industries.
Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, present at the meeting, advised officials to focus on skill enhancement for TFDPC employees and adopt timely measures to resolve operational challenges.

The review session was attended by TFDPC Chairman and MLA Pramod Reang, Chief Secretary J K Sinha, CM’s Secretary Dr P K Chakraborty, Agriculture and Finance Department Secretary Apurba Roy, TFDPC Managing Director A S Konfade, and other senior officials.
Officials said the state government aims to implement a comprehensive roadmap for PSUs over the next few years, integrating modern management practices, technology-driven production methods, and strategic market planning to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
This move aligns with Tripura’s vision of positioning PSUs as profit-oriented, innovation-driven enterprises that contribute to economic growth, employment generation, and industrial diversification.
