CM Warns Against ‘Illegal’ Activities in ADC

Agartala/Khumulwng, Feb 8: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday issued a stern warning against alleged illegal activities in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), asserting that the state government has concrete information on violations and that the truth would be placed before the public at the appropriate time.

Addressing a joining programme at the ADC headquarters in Khumulwng, Dr. Saha said several actions carried out in the TTAADC lacked legal approval and were aimed at creating confusion and political instability. He cautioned that attempts to bypass rules and mislead people would not be tolerated.

Senior BJP leaders present at the joining event included state BJP president and MP Rajib Bhattacharya, state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, former MP Rebati Tripura, along with district and mandal-level leaders, MDCs, and party workers.

The Chief Minister alleged that irregularities were committed in the formation of village committees without following prescribed norms, which later resulted in the cancellation of village committee elections due to legal hurdles. He also accused certain quarters of indulging in political stunts by spreading confusion over the proposed Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat area, adding that the facts had now been exposed before the public.

“BJP will work by giving priority to the development of the citizens of ADC by removing all these negative politics. Therefore, a resolution must be taken to form a Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in ADC,” the Chief Minister said.

Dr. Saha reiterated that the BJP-led state government was committed to the socio-economic development of every citizen and stressed that peace and development go hand in hand. He said extremism and violence during previous regimes had stalled growth, while the present government prioritised development after bringing misguided elements into the mainstream.

Referring to political competition ahead of the upcoming TTAADC elections, the Chief Minister said there was an unhealthy scramble for power, with contradictory claims being made merely to retain or regain seats. He urged party workers to take a collective resolve to form a BJP-led government in the ADC to ensure transparent governance and development-oriented politics.

The Chief Minister also defended eviction drives in urban areas, stating that they were carried out to ease public inconvenience and that rehabilitation measures were being considered. He accused opposition parties of hypocrisy and attempting to mislead people despite their past record of violence and lawlessness.
