The Congress party on Saturday released a ‘Black Paper’ in Agartala against the Modi government, accusing it of failing the country in various aspects in the last 10 years.
The party’s National Media Coordinator to North East Region, Mathew Antony, who arrived in Agartala, presented the ‘Black paper’ at a press conference at the Agartala Congress Bhavan.
The ‘Black Paper’ highlighted the issues of rising unemployment, soaring prices of essential commodities, and inadequate minimum support price (MSP) for farmers. It also alleged that the Modi government had ruined the country’s economy, harmed the agricultural sector, and violated the rights of women and minorities.
Antony said that the Congress was the only party that had consistently raised its voice against the ‘injustice’ done by the Modi government to the people. He said that the people of the country were suffering due to the government’s mismanagement and corruption.
“The Modi government has failed to control inflation and provide basic needs to the people. It has not used the Essential Commodities Act to curb the prices of essential items. It has also failed to increase the MSP for farmers, who are protesting against the anti-farmer laws”, the Congress leader alleged.
He also said, the Modi government has devastated the country’s economy, aggravated unemployment, destroyed the country’s agricultural sector, abetted crimes against women and committed grave injustices against minorities in the country,” he said.
Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Asish Saha also slammed the BJP government in Tripura, saying that it had followed the Centre’s footsteps and derailed the development process in the state.
The TPCC president said that the people of Tripura were disillusioned with the BJP-led government, which had failed to deliver on its promises.
“The BJP government in Tripura has brought nothing but misery to the people. It has increased unemployment and corruption in every sector of the government. It has also worsened the law and order situation, where women are being attacked and harassed. The BJP government has betrayed the people of Tripura and has no moral right to continue in power,” Asish Saha alleged.
He added that the Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, would visit Tripura before the Lok Sabha polls and address the people. He appealed to the people to vote for the Congress, which he said was the only alternative to the BJP. He said that the Congress would work for the welfare and development of the people and the state.
