Congress came down heavily on Tripura Police and slammed the ruling BJP over the issue of political violence. Tripura Pradesh Congress has also decided to seek intervention of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura over ‘BJP-backed terror-tactics’.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday evening the Congress state in-charge Ajay Kumar alleged, “Since after the ex-BJP MLAs – Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Kumar Saha came back to the Congress, the BJP started the politics of terrorism against the Congress.”
“We shall move to the HC Chief Justice and seek his direction to the Chief Minister who also holds the home portfolio to stop the BJP-backed terror tactics in the state,” Kumar told the media.
The Congress leader blamed the Chief Minister on Wednesday and alleged, “Police are not allowing any political activities of the opposition parties including the Congress and they are unnecessarily harassing the opposition workers by lodging false complaints against them in an attempt to put them in jail.”
“The matter will be taken up in the High Court. The party will appeal to the Chief Justice to direct the state government to provide security to the party workers,” he said.
Commenting on arrested party workers, Ajay Kumar said, “We will keep contacts with the family members of the arrested Congress youth. There are so many brave young men in the Congress party. The Congress party will forever be with those who have been falsely imprisoned”.
Ajay Kumar on Wednesday said, “We have lodged two FIRs but we have not received any update on investigation. Video-records showed how the Congress building was attacked.
Besides, he also raised a question as to why the police did not take action against the BJP which created tension during the Congress rally in Dharmanagar on Tuesday.
