The 66th death anniversary of the architect of the Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar has been observed in Tripura with solemnity on Monday.
A programme was organized by the SC Welfare department at the premises of Ujjayanta Palace. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar at a statue. Among others, Minister of SC Welfare Department Bhagaban Das, MLAs Dr Dilip Das, Rebati Das and Ranjit Das also paid tributes.
Dr Ambedkar was born in April 1891 and died on December 6, 1956. He was conferred Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in 1990.
“Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was a multifaceted personality. Popularly, he is known as the father of the Indian Constitution”, said Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion to the media, Dev Varma said, “Dr BR Ambedkar was a multi dimensional personality as well as an eminent politician and jurist. He campaigned to establish social justice. He was also engaged in works for the welfare of downtrodden people of the country”.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said, the Tripura Government is moving ahead following the path of Dr BR Ambedkar to ensure welfare of people of the State.
“The last person of the society must be brought forward through welfare measures for the sake of strengthening the society and realizing the Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas vision”.
Minister Bhagaban Das also shed light on the life of Dr BR Ambedkar and said, Dr Ambedkar is the architect of the world’s largest Constitution.
