Three doctors who conducted a very critical surgery and gave a new lease of life to a seriously injured patient in Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) were felicitated by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb at the civil secretariat on Friday.
While praising the efforts made by the three doctors- Dr. Damodar Chatterjee, Dr. Diptendu Chowdhury and Dr. Bhaskar Majumder along with the medical team, the Chief Minister said success in such critical surgery would send a positive message among the common people about the healthcare of the state.
“Earlier, in such cases, the people of Tripura used to shift the patients outside the state. But, in case of Ranjan Malakar of Teliamura, who was critically injured after being attacked by a wild bull elephant on December 8 last, the doctors have made it possible within the state,” he said.
Addressing the felicitation programme, the Chief Minister also expressed hope that the efforts made by the doctors would definitely make the people more confident on the state’s health system and the doctors.
In the meantime, Deb appreciated the role of doctors, nurse and other healthcare/ cleaning staff for delivering dedicated service to the COVID19 patients.
“The COVID19 positivity rate in the state now stands around 1 per cent while the recovery rate is 98 per cent. It has been possible following cooperation from every unit of healthcare from Primary Health Centre to GBP hospital. Tripura is small in size but there is no dearth in COVID19 management,” the Chief Minister said.
Principal Secretary to Health Dr. J.K. Sinha, Director of Tripura Health Services Dr. Subhasis Debbarma and Director of Health and Family Welfare department Dr. Radha Debbarma were also present in the felicitation programme.
Apart from the three doctors, anesthesiologist Dr. Sourav Saha, more seven medical officers, nurses and technicians were also felicitated by the Chief Minister.
