As the Poll campaign in Tripura for the Lok Sabha polls getting intense, CPIM Politburo member Manik Sarkar hit campaign trails in support of State Congress chief and INDI alliance candidate Ashish Kumar Saha at Agartala on Saturday outlining reasons why Left party supporters should vote for Saha in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.
Addressing a gathering, Sarkar called for unity among people, particularly Left party supporters, to be united in the fight to save the country rising above the party line.He urged voters to support the INDIA Bloc candidate for a united fight against the BJP, highlighting the need for a united front to combat the BJP's policies.
“Don’t make a mistake by not voting for the Pradesh Congress party chief Ashish Saha in this election. The BJP will take the advantage and emerge gainer if you refrain from voting for Saha in the West seat,” Sarkar said to his party supporters.
He said, “There is a need for collective effort in ousting the BJP from power in Delhi and save the country. Also, if you want change in Tripura, you need to bring change in Delhi in this crucial Lok Sabha election by supporting INDIA Bloc candidate.”
“We need to fight united against the BJP cutting across our political lines. This is the demand of the time, where we need to take united action against the BJP and fight this ensuing Lok Sabha election,” Sarkar said, adding that if the congressmen can vote for the CPM like it did in the last 2023 assembly election, why not the CPIM vote for the congress this time.
In his speech, Sarkar castigated the BJP and alleged the country is being pushed towards destruction and if the BJP is voted to power for the third time the country would face more destruction, where people will lose their all rights.
“Elections were turned into a farce, especially in Tripura since the BJP had assumed power in 2018 and the right to vote of the people were snatched away by them to stay in power,” he alleged, adding that democracy is under attack under the rule of the BJP, which is now blaming the Left front and held it responsible for the destruction of democracy.
He continued slamming the BJP and said, “Worried of the emergence of the I.N.D.I.A bloc which raised slogan to oust BJP from power, the ruling BJP made an attempt to manipulate the agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation to put the opposition leaders in jail and throttle the opposition voice.”
He underscored the importance of the INDIA bloc in defeating the BJP and called for collective efforts to save the democracy and the country.
