In the battle against the drug menace, Tripura police managed to arrest five persons from different areas including two held in Agartala and seized drugs, pistol and cash on Saturday and Sunday.
Police arrested two persons in Agartala on Sunday with ‘suspected’ brown sugar and after interrogation recovered a country made pistol from the residence of one of the arrestees.
Police sources said, based on secret inputs, West Agartala police raided a vehicle (Hundai Verna) bearing registration number WB22-U-0288 at Abhoynagar cantonment road in Agartala today.
“During search, we found suspected brown sugar in the vehicle and detained two youths – Balaram Sahu alias Bhalu of cantonment Road and Jahidul Islam of Paschimpara in Abhoynagar”, a police officer said.
Speaking to the media, Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala police station Subrata Chakraborty said after preliminary interrogation, police raided the house of Balaram and seized a factory-made pistol along with empty vials. Police also seized the mobile phone Balaram.
Talking about the modus-operandi of the arrested persons, Chakraborty said, the youths fill up the empty vials with drugs from a container in roaming position and sell those at different places.
He said, earlier Balaram was arrested in another case of West Agartala police station. Police registered a case against the youth under NDPS Act and initiated a probe. Chakraborty said, the two arrestees would be produced before the court on Monday and police remand would be sought.
On Saturday last, Police arrested two persons with drugs in Manubazar under South Tripura district. OC of Manu Bazar PS along with TSR jawans raided at Chota Sakbari and seized 1.5 grams Heroin kept in 70 plastic vials and Rs 40,300 from the possession of Sujit Mog and Renjoy Tripura.
In yet another raid on Saturday last in Gandachhera under Dhalai district one person – Rampada Tripura – was arrested and Police seized 0.48 gram heroin kept in 30 vials.
