With the Durga Puja is just three months away, Community Puja committees and clubs in Tripura are gearing up to observe the Puja in a big way.
One of the well known clubs in Tripura, Chhatrabandhu club in Agartala held customary ‘Khuti Puja’ ritual on Sunday (July 17).
This customary ritual is performed before starting construction of pandals – temporary abode of Maa Durga and her divine family.
This year the Chhatrabandhu club will build up the pandal depicting Kailash Nath Temple of Ellora caves.
Notably, Kailashnath Temple is the largest one out of total 34 Hindu, Buddhist and Jain cave temples. Collectively these caves are famous as the Ellora Caves. It is located at Aurangabad district in Maharashtra. The enormous Kailashnath Cave Temple was carved from one rock. It was built in the 8th century.
Creating a replica of around three stories tall with intricate and stunning ornamentation of Kailashnath Cave Temple is quite a difficult task. However, the Community Puja committee of the Chhatrabandhu Club is relying on artistic talents of the State.
“The Puja pandal, idols and lighting will done by the artists of the State”, said a club member.
However, sudden spike in Covid positive cases in Tripura has cast a veil of doubts. Unless the situation is improved, Covid restrictions may dampen the spirit. Inspite of the uncertainties, Puja organizers are hoping for a grand celebration this year.
