Tripura Pradesh Congress held a protest programme coined as ‘Tiranga March’ in Agartala on Tuesday (July 26) denouncing questioning of Congress president Sonia Gandhi by the ED in connection with the National Herald case.

Congress leaders and supporters raised slogans condemning the action of the ED and termed it as ‘political vendetta’.

State Party leaders alleged, Sonia Gandhi is framed in a false case as part of the political revenge and Congress workers across the State was protesting the action of the ED.

Speaking to the reporters, TPCC president Birajit Sinha said, “The act of Enforcement Directorate (ED) is just to harass our president Sonia Gandhi. The allegations are politically motivated and fabricated to malign the image of the president and the party”.

Alleging that the Central government is misusing power, Sinha asserted Congress will continue to fight against the government and protest the ED actions against the party leaders. He also mentioned such actions would not be able to stop the Congress party supporters in fighting against the BJP.

Sinha continued to blast against the BJP and said, central government’s policies have put people under huge distress and as Congress is protesting against the apathetic central government, the latter is using ED and other agencies to silence the voice of the protests.

Earlier, as per the AICC instruction, Congress workers marched to Gandhighat and held Satyagraha Andolan protesting ED actions.

Former Pradesh Congress president Gopal Roy, lone Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, former MLA Asish Kumar Saha and other leaders of Pradesh Congress took part in the protest.

The leaders urged the supporters to work in unison to oust BJP – according to them, running an autocratic government.
