The leader of opposition of Tripura and CPM Politburo member Manik Sarkar on Sunday came down heavily on the ruling BJP over recently concluded Civic Body Polls in Tripura.

The Leftists could manage to win in three seats out of the total 222 seats for which polls were conducted. Firing from all cylinders, Sarkar yet again blamed BJP for turning the elections in the State a farce. He also claimed the ruling BJP has lost people’s trust.

“The BJP has lost the trust of the people in the last three years after coming to power by securing more than 50% votes and so the BJP is being alienated from the people and turning the elections into farce,” Sarkar said while addressing the gathering of party workers during the 12th central conference of Tripura Motor Workers’ Union at Agartala Town Hall on Sunday.

He alleged, “This is unfortunate that the Chief Minister of our state is lying and denying of electoral frauds that has been going on in the state and started since 2018. When the Prime Minister himself is lying, how can one expect truth from the one who is currently leading our state.”

“It is shameful that no election was held peacefully and in free and fair manner in Tripura since 2018 and the culprits have been given clean-chits in the name of fake investigations,” alleging this Sarkar said, “The government of double engine is cheating the people and as a result, the government has lost the courage to contest elections in free and fair manner. They have been always opting for the path of turning elections into farce by throttling the voice of common people.”

Sarkar said, “Due to the deteriorated law and order situation and total failure of the state administration, the BJP is losing ground by losing the trust of the people. In this situation the Left’s movement needs to strengthen and accelerate.”

“We need to strengthen the movements of different wings of the Left Front including the movement of TMWU, so that our demands are met by the government. People of all walks of life have to raise their voices against the liberalism and corporate policy of the BJP government in near future,” Sarkar said.
