In the late hours of August 5, a medical team, led by Dr. Abhijit Shil and Dr. Pushpal Chowdhury, skillfully executed a successful cesarean section on Alalika Chakma.

 

The doctors of GBP Hospital in Agartala successfully performed a late-night cesarean section on Alalika Chakma, a resident of Chawmanu in Tripura recently.

Both the mother and her newborn emerged from the operation in a healthy and stable condition, marking a successful outcome amidst challenging circumstances.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha congratulated the entire medical team for the safe delivery despite difficult circumstances.

Alalika Chakma initially sought medical attention at Chawmanu under Dhalai District and subsequently at Dhalai District Hospital on August 5 last.

However, the complexity of her condition necessitated her referral to the GBP Hospital, a decision that proved instrumental in ensuring her and her baby’s well-being.

Facilitating this crucial transfer was Nita Devi, an Asha worker, who escorted the expectant mother to GBP Hospital on August 5 midnight.

At the time of her arrival at the GBP Hospital, Alalika Chakma’s condition was critical, prompting her family to urgently contact the Chief Minister’s secretariat for assistance.

In response, Dr. Sanjib Debbarma, Vice Principal of Agartala Government Medical College and Chief Medical Superintendent of the hospital, was promptly informed by the Chief Minister’s secretariat and tasked with immediate intervention.

Swift action ensued, with Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Sanjib Debbarma coordinating the medical response.

In the late hours of August 5, a medical team, led by Dr. Abhijit Shil and Dr. Pushpal Chowdhury, skillfully executed a successful cesarean section on Alalika Chakma. To further ensure her safety, two units of A-positive blood were arranged from within the hospital.

The commendable efforts of the medical team culminated in the well-being of both Alalika Chakma and her newborn child.

Among those contributing to the success of this intricate procedure were esteemed medical professionals, including Dr. Arthi Haridas, Dr. D Chhabra, Dr. Nilotpal, Dr. Payal Saha, Dr. Patis, and Anesthetist Dr. Tapan Debbarma.

Further support was rendered by Dr. Mohit, Staff Nurse Brotika Chakma, OT Assistants Rajiv Saha and Alok Saha, along with Rinki Bhattacharya and Pratima Pal, who all played pivotal roles in the medical team.

The successful caesarean operation serves as a testament to the dedication and expertise of the healthcare professionals at GBP Hospital, exemplifying their unrelenting commitment to safeguarding the lives of both mothers and their infants.
