Eminent obstetrician and gynecologist late Dr. Ela Lodh of Tripura has been selected for Nari Shakti Puraskar- 2020 (posthumously) for her exceptional contributions towards women’s empowerment.
The award will be presented by the President of India in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi on March 8 next on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
On behalf of Dr Ela Lodh, her son Debanjan Lodh will receive the award– a certificate and a cash amount of Rs. Two lakh.
Dr. Rakesh Gupta, joint secretary of the Ministry of Child and Women Development, informed this in a letter addressed to Debanjan Lodh.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development confers Nari Shakti Puraskar every year to individuals and institutions in recognition of their service towards the cause of women empowerment, especially vulnerable and marginalized women.
In a Facebook post, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb wrote, “It’s matter of pride for the state that her work has been recognized by the higher authorities of the country and she is being felicitated for the same by the President of India. She worked as the Director of #Tripura Health Service and gave her best to the public service.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath also expressed his happiness over conferring Nari Shakti Puraskar to late Dr Ela Lodh.
