A burst of euphoria and unbridled joy swept through the hearts of sports enthusiasts and ordinary citizens alike in Tripura after hearing the report of Amardeep Debbarma’s (of Tripura) golden success in the Asian Power Lifting Championship.
Social media was flooded with congratulatory messages, overflowing with pride and admiration for Debbarma’s remarkable achievement.
The joy of sports lovers of Tripura doubled as another weight lifter of the State representing the country Amal Kumar Ghosh bagged four medals including one gold medal in the same competition five days ago.
The twin success of the State’s Power lifters Ghosh and Debbarma enthralled the people.
Amardeep Debbarma won the gold medal in the All Department Master Three 120 class category on Saturday (May 6).
On May 2 last, Amal Kumar Ghosh won the gold medal in bench press in Masters-Three category 66 kg. Besides, he won three silver medals in the back squat, deadlift and overall categories.
There are more reasons to rejoice as Tripura’s Shantanu Sutradhar and Priyatosh Das are the coach and manager respectively of the Indian Powerlifting team.
The sports fraternity expressed happiness at the achievements of the State’s two powerlifters. Secretary of the state organization Narayan Chandra Debnath congratulated both lifters.
