Farm Bills will usher a new dawn in the country and these laws would benefit the farmers, MLA of ruling BJP in Tripura, Bhagaban das said this on Monday.
MLA Bhagaban Das today highlighted some features of the Farm Bills and pointed out beneficial aspects of the laws for farmers’ interest.
Addressing media, Bhagaban das criticized the ongoing Farmers’ protest and alleged, a group of people with vested interested and some political parties are running the show under the veil of farmers’ protest – actual farmers are not participating in the agitation.
Das further said, “For the first time after Independence, Modi-led Government showed real respects to farmers and announced to deposit Rs 6000 per annum in three tranches to farmers’ account”.
Referring to the present scenario in the country’s agri sector, Bhagaban Das said, Modi-led Government believes that the target of Food security could be achieved due to untiring efforts of the farmers. As the farmers toiled hard, the country experienced the Green Revolution and farmers of Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh had a notable contribution in achieving the green Revolution. “India is no longer facing a food crisis. Moreover, Indian Agri products are being exported to foreign markets, at present. As a result farmers’ earnings are increasing”, the leader said.
Justifying his statement, Bhagaban Das said, a total of 251.54 million MT crops were produced in 2015-16 while the production increased to 296.65 million MT – this was a new record. Similarly, Budget allocation for agri-sector augmented by 6 times in 2020-21 compared to 2013-14.
Explaining objectives of the Central Government, Bhagaban das said, the Government is trying to ensure quality products and minimizing crop losses using technology. He also talked about benefits accrued to farmers from several Government schemes including Fasal Bima Yojana.
“The Union Government has passed three Farm Bills as reforms in Agri sector became necessary. The bills were passed in the Parliament with huge support and these would usher new dawns for the farmers”, Das said and added that farmers would not be affected or be a loser due to these three Bills. In this connection, he also mentioned about formation FPOs for the benefits of farmers.
