The Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital have scripted yet another medical success story. The Hospital has performed, for the first time in Tripura, Angioplasty surgery successfully.
The Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology (CTVS and IR) department of Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital have performed the surgery. This is the third successful heart-related surgery performed by the CTVS and IR department of the Hospital. Earlier, the department performed successful Open-heart and bypass surgeries in recent times.
The Angioplasty surgery was successfully conducted for the first time on 55 years old Haradhan Sutradhar hailing from Udaipur. He got admitted in the hospital on January 29 with chest pain.
After going through Angiogram in CTVS and IR Cath Lab, doctors found heart artery blockage and accordingly a surgery was planned.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Anindya Sundar Trivedi along with Consultant and In-charge Cardiac surgeon Dr. Kanak Narayan Bhattacharjee, Dr. Arup Deb, Dr. Surajit Pal, Cath Lab Technician Sanjay Ghosh, Cath Lab Nurse Prankrishna Deb, Debabrata Debnath, Anna Bahadur Jamatia, Sujan Sahu and other staffs.
According to a Government press release, the present condition of the patient is informed to be good and will be released in few days.
The successful heart surgeries in the AGMC and GBP will come as big boon for patients of the State. Earlier, heart patients had to go to other States for such treatment. Moreover, the cost of the treatment in other States is considerably high.
With the Heart related treatment facilities improving in the State, the outflow of the patients will come down bringing a big relief to family members of the heart patients.
