Veteran CPM leader Narayan Rupini breathed his last on Thursday late night. He was 72 years old. He was elected as an MLA successively four times from Charilam since 1998.
Narayan Rupini was the first Chairman of Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and was also a veteran member of the State party central Committee.
The deceased leader was suffering for a long time. He got admitted in a private Hospital in Agartala with Covid infection. Even as he recovered from the Covid, his health condition was critical owing to other infections. After remaining confined in Hospital for long days, he was later shifted to Ventilation owing to his deteriorating health condition. And ultimately Narayan Rupini succumbed on Thursday last night.
On Friday, the last homage was paid to him by the Party workers assembled at Agartala Town Hall as part of the inauguration of the two-day State Party Conference.
CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau members Prakash Karat, Manik Sarkar also the leader of the Opposition and other party leaders, functionaries and supporters paid their last respects to the departed leader.
The body was then taken to his own house adjacent to Radhanagar Hindi School. From there his body was taken to the assembly.
Ratan Chakraborty, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Kalyani Roy, Chief Whip paid their last respects. Then it is taken to the secretariat. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath and others paid their last respects to him there.
The deceased leader was then taken to the ADC head office. From there he was taken to his home in Jirania Vivo Daspara. It is learned that his last work would be completed there.
