Tripura Police arrested six more accused persons in connection with the Natunbazar murder case on Saturday. All the arrested persons were sent to three-day Police remand. So far, a total of eight persons were held in this connection.

 

On the intervening nights of January 21 and 22 last, miscreants attacked three Fish traders. In the attack, one Shitan Das (40) died on the spot while his brothers- Jitan Das (46) and Litan Das (36) sustained serious injuries. They all hail from ITI Para of Natunbazar in Jatanbari and are fish hawkers by profession. 

 

The miscreants attacked them at Babu Tila under Rambhadra along on Tirthamuk road when they were on their way to Mandirghat in Dumbur.

 

Earlier, the police had arrested two accused- Chayan Kumar Chakma (24) and Ranjit Tanti (31) in this connection.

 

After interrogating of Chakma and Tanti, Gomati police on Saturday arrested six more accused – Palajoy Reang (45), Thaichou Mog (28), Sunu Tanti (22), Rajindra Bonas, Narjyaram Reang (26) and Nirmal Khairi (29) of Natunbazar area in this connection.

 

All the six were produced before the Court and the Court sent them to three day Police custody.

 

A press release issued by the Tripura Police mentioned, after preliminary investigation it was revealed that the professional rivalry was the cause behind the incident. It was learnt that the victim party was capturing fish trade from Dumbur which was affecting the economic prospects of accused party.

 

The weapon used in the crime has been recovered during investigation. The police are taking further probe in this case.

 

The incident sparked resentment among the Fish trading communities and they demanded stern action against the attackers.
