Tripura Pradesh Congress has come up with clarification relating to ‘Greater Tipraland’ demand and said it is not only geographic but calls for huge devolution of power under the purview of the Indian Constitution for the holistic development of the indigenous people of the State.
“The Demand for Greater Tipraland is not geographic, majority of the demand implies lots of devaluation of power to the tribal society for their holistic development, said Congress Observer for Tripura affairs Dr Ajay Kumar.
Notably, the demand for Greater Tipraland was raised by Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the founder of TIPRA Motha which is in power at the TTAADC.
Speaking to the media in Agartala on Sunday, Dr Kumar also said, “We will consider everything within the frame work of the Indian Constitution and all legal steps will have to be taken within the Constitution so that all stakeholders get impacted – whether it is Tripura or neighbouring State, everyone has to be taken into confidence. After achieving this, the next step will be taken within the purview of the Constitution”.
Dr Kumar criticized the BJP for ‘doing nothing good’ for the ST people and claimed that it was Congress Party that worked for the betterment of tribal population in India.
Meantime, Dr Kumar along with the State Congress leaders are reaching out to leaders of other parties like Pijush Kanti Biswas who along with several others quit the party after Birajit Sinha was appointed at the helm of State party.
In today’s press conference, Pradesh Congress Chief Birajit Sinha and newly inducted Sudip Roy Barma also made statements.
Birajit Sinha said joining of Roy Barman and Ashish Saha has bolstered the confidence of the Party. Most of the MLAs of BJP are Congress turncoats – I appeal to all to save the people of the State and return to the party.
Training his gun at the BJP, Roy Barman urged the Prime Minister to take back his ‘HIRA’ He also claimed that his statement relating to reducing the ruling party to a minority was wrongly interpreted.
Earlier, Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha went to Tripureswari Temple at Matabari and offered puja there. Both were accompanied by Dr Ajay Kumar, Birajit Sinha, Gopal Roy and other Congress leaders.
