Heritage Village, Amusement Park Projects to Boost Tripura Tourism
Agartala, Jan 3: Tripura is set to take another step towards strengthening its tourism infrastructure with the foundation stone laying of two major projects at Jirania under West Tripura district. The Tourism Department of the state government will formally launch the Development of Tripura Heritage Village and Sangeet Experience along with the Establishment of an Amusement Park at Sachindranagar, Jirania, on January 5, 2026, at 12 noon.
According to the official invitation issued by the Tourism Department, the projects are being implemented under Swadesh Darshan (SD) 2.0 and are funded by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). The initiatives aim to boost cultural tourism, preserve local heritage, and create new recreational avenues for visitors and residents alike.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the programme and lay the foundation stones for the projects. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury will attend the event as the Guest of Honour, underlining the department’s focus on expanding Tripura’s tourism footprint through culture-driven development.
Several other dignitaries are expected to be present on the occasion, including Biswajit Shil, Sabhadhipati of Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad, and Swapna Debbarma, MLA of the Tripura Legislative Assembly. Local governance representatives such as Sovamani Debbarma, Chairman of the BAC, Jirania, and Ratan Kumar Das, Chairperson of Jirania Nagar Panchayat, will also take part in the programme.
Senior administrative officials are slated to attend, with U.K. Chakma, IAS, Secretary of the Tourism Department, listed among the special guests. Social activists Gouranga Bhowmik and Ranajit Roy Choudhury are also expected to be present, reflecting community involvement in the tourism-led development initiative.
The programme will be presided over by Pritam Debnath, Chairperson of the Jirania Panchayat Samiti. Prashant Badal Negi, IAS, Director of the Tourism Department, is overseeing the event on behalf of the department.
Officials said the proposed Heritage Village and Sangeet Experience project is designed to showcase Tripura’s rich cultural traditions, music, and indigenous heritage, while the amusement park at Sachindranagar is expected to add a new dimension to leisure tourism in the region.

Together, the projects are anticipated to generate employment, encourage local entrepreneurship, and attract more tourists to the state.
With these initiatives, the Tripura government continues its push to position tourism as a key driver of sustainable economic growth while preserving the state’s unique cultural identity.
