Ramnagar Assembly constituency is abuzz with hectic political activities as by-poll in the constituency will be held on April 19 along with the LS polls in West Tripura parliamentary seat.

The imminent Lok Sabha elections and the crucial by-elections for the Ramnagar assembly seat have set the stage for a fierce battle between political titans. As the state braces for this electoral showdown, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has its sights firmly set on securing an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha – Their audacious goal? To surpass the elusive 400-seat mark, ensuring the re-election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP’s campaign machinery is in full swing, leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of dominance.

In a strategic move, the opposition forces have coalesced under the banner of the INDIA bloc. The Congress and the Left Front, once fierce rivals, have buried their differences to champion a common cause: the ‘restoration of democracy and Constitution’. Their unity aims to counter the BJP’s juggernaut and reclaim political ground.

Amidst hectic LS Poll campaigns, the Ramnagar constituency is witnessing an intense face-off. The BJP has fielded Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Mayor, Dipak Majumder, as their standard-bearer. Majumder, a seasoned politician, is banking on recent development initiatives to sway voters. He is regularly conducting door-to-door campaign to connect with every household and win their supports.

On the opposing side stands Ratan Das, the CPIM candidate – a former MLA, enjoys the backing of the Congress party. His campaign rallies have resonated with the masses, promising continuity and progress. Das pledges to carry forward the legacy of the late MLA Surajit Datta, vowing to complete pending projects and foster overall development in the constituency.

As the campaign intensifies, the streets of Jaipur Chowmani reverberate with fervor. Jiten Choudhury, CPI-M state secretary and MLA, leads a roadshow in support of Ratan Das. Choudhury minces no words, launching scathing attacks on the BJP government. His accusations range from anarchy and terror to unfulfilled promises masked as development. For Choudhury, this election is about safeguarding the people’s interests by dethroning the ruling party.

Ratan Das, undeterred by the BJP’s formidable machinery, has crisscrossed the constituency. Das is appealing to voters’ conscience, urging them to cast their ballots in favor of the INDIA bloc. His vision centers on inclusive governance, social justice, and a commitment to the grassroots.
