Sports play a vital role in shaping our lives, fostering competition, and building a positive attitude. They serve as a platform to embrace challenges and strive towards fulfilling life’s dreams and goals, said Governor of Tripura, on Sunday in Agartala Indrasena Reddy Nallu.
He was speaking at the ceremonial inauguration of the Asian 16 & Under Ranking Junior Tennis Tournament at the Tennis Complex, Malanch Nivas, Agartala today.
Notably, it is for the first time in history of the State, the Asian-16 and under ranking Junior Tennis Tournament 2023 will be held in Tripura. Even as the 8-day tournament started on Saturday, Governor, Indrasena Reddy Nallu formally inaugurated the event today. The Tripura Tennis Association has organized the tournament.
The main competition, however, will span five days from November 13 to 17.
In his inaugural address, the Governor encouraged participating players to give their best efforts in pursuing their dreams. He expressed confidence that these players would one day proudly represent the nation in significant sporting events. The Governor commended the Tripura Tennis Association for their initiative in hosting the competition and thanked everyone involved.
During the opening ceremony, he met the participating players, acknowledging their dedication and sportsmanship. Notably, players from Nepal also actively took part in the competition.
Earlier, Sujit Roy, the secretary of the Tripura Tennis Association, elaborated on the tournament details during a press conference held at the Malancha Nivas Tennis Court Complex on Saturday.
Praveen Kumar Naik, an Asian Tennis Federation recognized match referee, provided a comprehensive overview of the competition, including the schedule, the names of participating tennis stars, and the top-ranked Asian tennis players who will be competing in the Asian-16 & Under Ranking Junior event.
Bidhan Roy, the president of the Tennis Association, Pranab Chowdhury, the Vice president, Tarit Roy, the Joint Secretary, Arup Ratan Saha, Chinmoy Debbarma, Mrinmoy Sengupta (Treasurer), Amiya Kumar Das (Executive Committee Member), Dr. Kanak Narayan Bhattacharya (Advisor), Dr. Jain from America, and other dignitaries were present at the yesterday’s press conference.
Among others, P.K. Chakraborty, the Secretary of Youth Affairs and Youth Department, UK Chakma, the Secretary to the Governor, Bidhan Roy, the president of the Tripura Tennis Association, and Pranab Chowdhury, the vice president of the Association were present in today’s inaugural programme.
