A massive fire broke out at the Settlement Office near Town Hall in Agartala on Monday night. At least, nine fire tenders rushed to the spot. Reasons behind the fire remain yet to be ascertained.
Even after battling it out for more than two hours, flames are razing through the Settlement Office rooms and threatening to go beyond control.
As the fire sparks are flying around, threat of spreading the fire is looming large. Panic is rife as a residential area is also not far away from the spot. Fire sparks coupled with dry air are posing a serious challenge for fire service personnel.
The Office is located behind the Agartala Townhall and near the Co-operative office. Also, there is a food court in the nearby area.
Flames have, already, gutted large volume of land record related files, papers and other documents of the Office.
TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy and the District Administration officials have reached to the spot and monitoring the situation. Till the report filing, the flames are yet to be brought under control.
