In a notable effort aimed at further bolstering the longstanding friendship between India and Bangladesh, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha extended a warm gesture on Saturday by sending a selection of pineapples produced in the state as a token of goodwill to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The act was met with appreciation and enthusiasm, further solidifying the amicable ties between the two nations.
The carefully chosen pineapples, renowned for their exquisite taste, were selected to represent the rich agricultural heritage of Tripura. The pineapples were sent in response to the presentation of Haribhanga mangoes by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Dr. Manik Saha on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh.
This exchange of delectable fruits symbolizes the mutual appreciation and goodwill shared by both leaders, serving as a testament to the enduring friendship between India and Bangladesh.
The formal handover ceremony took place at the Agartala-Akhaura integrated check post, in presence of esteemed representatives from the Tripura government and border security forces.
Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia, the Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, along with Joint Director Shantanu Debbarma, Assistant Director Dr. Deepak Baidya, and officers from the Customs and Border Security Force at the Akhaura border were present on this occasion.
Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia provided details about the goodwill gesture, explaining that the Chief Minister sent a total of 700 pieces of the Kew Variety pineapples of Tripura.
This delicious Kew Variety of pineapples was thoughtfully packed in 100 cartons, with each box containing seven succulent pineapples. The choice of the Kew variety highlights Tripura’s agricultural excellence, known for producing high-quality pineapples cherished for their remarkable taste and freshness.
