The International Museum Day was celebrated at Ujjayanta Palace through a colourful programme. The programme was organized by Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited.
The theme of International Museum Day this year was – ‘The power of Museums’. After inaugurating the programme on Wednesday, Director of Tourism department Tarit Kanti Chakma said museums awaken the history of the past. It brings forth years and years of history to the new generation. It shows the path of where we were and how we can take the future ahead. He informed that plan has been taken up to transform Pushpabant Palace to a digital museum.
As a part of International Museum Day, total 41 students of Agartala Art College took part in art competition on ‘Study on archaeological remains’ on May 16-17 at Ujjayanta Palace. Winners of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th prize were Satyajit Chatterjee, Soham Raja, Debanjan Maiti, Rajesh Some and Bijit Saha respectively. Each of them was handed over 2 thousand rupees cash and a certificate.
Others were handed over certificates. Apart from that, total 220 students of 6-9 years, 9-12 years and 12-16 years participated in sit & draw competition yesterday in three phases. Best five of each group were handed over trophy and certificates. Others were handed over certificates. 50 artistes performed in cultural event on the occasion.
Museum Curator Sampa Mirdha and President of Tripura Hotel Association Kanti Deb also spoke on the occasion. Welcome speech was delivered by Joint Managing Director of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited Dilip Kumar Debbarma. Others present were Joint Director of Tourism department Argha Saha, General Secretary of Tripura Hotel Association Sumita Saha, representative of Ginger Hotel Partha Sarathi Nath.
