Ruling coalition partner of BJP in Tripura, IPFT has lost another legislative member as Raima Valley MLA Dhananjay Tripura submitted his resignation to Speaker of the State Assembly Ratan Chakraborty in Agartala on Friday.
Dhananjay Tripura, accompanied by Tipra Motha supremo Pradyut Kishore Debbarma submitted resignation from the MLAship today.
Earlier, Brishaketu Debbarma, elected from Simna Assembly seat on IPFT ticket in 2018 left the party and joined Tipra Motha. Subsequently, his MLAship was cancelled.
Meantime, Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) MLA and former minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia met Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma on Thursday (Oct 13) evening at latter’s palace.
Jamatia’s wife had quit IPFT and joined Tipra Motha earlier. In Tripura, IPFT is an ally of BJP in coalition government.
On another front, Tipra Women’s Federation (TWF), women wing of Tipra Motha, organized a rally in Agartala on Friday (October 14). After the rally, the 2nd State level conference of the TWF started at Agartala Town Hall today.
The street March of the TWF was led by Tipra Motha supremo Pradyut Kishore Debbarma. According to the TWF sources, the rally was held in support of the Greater Tipraland – the core demand of Tipra Motha.
The rally also highlighted why the demand is important for the indigenous people of Tripura.
Speaking to the media, Pradyot Kishore said the reason behind organizing the street march is to convey the message to the people of the state that his party is not against any section of the people of the state.
“Tipra Motha is only struggling to for constitutional rights of Tiprasa people – the party is not against any community”, Pradyot Kishore said.
After the rally, Debbarma inaugurated the 2nd State Level Conference of the TWF at Agartala Town Hall today.
