In a remarkable medical achievement, doctors and medical staffs of the main referral hospital of Tripura, Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital performed a critical surgery on a 32 years old youth on Wednesday (December 28) and saved the life of the patient.
In a freak accident on December 27 night, an iron rod pierced through the neck and mouth of one Krishnadhan Poddar, a resident of Dukli in Agartala and car driver by profession. He was rushed in to the GBP Trauma Center and immediately doctors started his treatment and decided to conduct a surgery on him at the earliest.
As the physical condition of Poddar became stable after initial treatment, a team comprising of ENT specialists started the critical surgery on Poddar. The team successfully extracted the iron rod along with a piece of cloth.
After the successful surgery, the patient is now under the supervision of the doctors at the ENT ward of the GBP Hospital – and his condition is stated to be stable.
The ENT team included ENT specialist Dr. Tarun Guha, Dr. Tanmoy Deb, Dr. Satyakam Chakraborty, Dr. Sayantan Rudra Pal, anaesthesiologist Dr. Vaskar Majumder, Dr. Bidhan Das and Dr. Biswajit Sutradhar along with OT Assistant and staff nurse.
Elated at the success, Chief Minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha – himself a doctor – hailed the success and congratulated the doctors and other medical staffs for their success in saving the patient.
Grateful family members also extended heartiest congratulations to the doctors and medical team for saving the patient.
The medical sector of Tripura witnessed several successful endeavours of the Doctors, medical staffs and Health workers. Surgeries which were never performed in GBP Hospital in the past are now conducted successfully.
Several cases of complex Heart Operations – including A life saving heart surgery on a 6-year-old child – were conducted by the Doctors and medical staffs of the GBP Hospital and AGMC.
