The Khelo India University Games commenced in Agartala on Sunday with the Yogasana competition, attracting a robust response from participating universities across the country. The formal inauguration took place at 2 pm, marking the start of the three-day event.

Khelo-India-University-games-yoga-tripura A total of 15 university teams are competing in the Yogasana competition, showcasing their skills and dedication to this ancient practice.

The men’s category includes teams from Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar; Lovely Professional University, Punjab; Savitribai Phule Pune University; KIIT University; RTM Nagpur University; Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar; Visva-Bharati; and Rajiv Gandhi University, Andhra Pradesh.

The women’s category features teams from the University of Calicut; University of Kalyani; KIIT University; The University of Burdwan; Tripura University; and RTM Nagpur University.

While the Khelo India University Games comprises a total of 20 events, Agartala is hosting the Yogasana competition. The remaining events are being held in Guwahati.

The competition was inaugurated at the Indoor Hall of NSSCC by a distinguished panel including Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary, Department of Youth Welfare and Sports, Government of Tripura; Dipak Sharma, Registrar, Tripura University; Satyabrata Nath, Director, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports; Subrata Karmarkar, Deputy Secretary, Department of Sports, Government of India; and Dr. Chandrakant Mishra, Competition Manager, SAI.

 

In a press conference held later in the evening, the organizers provided detailed information about the competition. The press conference was attended by the Competition Manager, Ram Chawla, Chief Executive Officer of Yogasana India, and Rohit Kaushik, Treasurer, who all expressed their excitement and anticipation for the upcoming events.
